Feel Alone in Your Relationship

People often think that you have to be alone to be lonely, but the truth is that you can be married and be lonely. What does it mean when you are in a relationship and you feel lonely? Loneliness is considered a state of being and is not something that just happens because you are alone or bored, but it is something that happens when you are not able to connect with the world around you.

Why Do People Feel Alone While in a Relationship?

People that are in relationships or even friendships often cannot be themselves in the place where they are at. Being lonely is a state of being and it is an emotional and mental thing that happens to some people.

There are some things that you can feel when you are lonely such as not being able to be you, not being able to tell what you are feeling and not being able to talk about things you like or hate. There are many things that can happen when you are lonely including health problems such as depression or anxiety.

Each and every relationship is different, and they are never the same. If you feel lonely, there can be two things that might be going on in your relationship; the first is that you might have picked the wrong person to fall in love with. If this happened to you, you might not be able to connect with your partner in a way that means you share certain things in life. If you have different values and you don’t have things in common, you might be with the wrong person.

The second thing that might happen is that you are with the right person and chose the person that is meant for you, but you are too afraid of getting hurt that you don’t let them get close to you. If this happens to you then chances are that you are not able to connect with them. You are afraid of being vulnerable and this can be a problem.

The good news is that if you are in the second group, you can fix these feelings and be strong in your relationship.

There are ways that you can stop being lonely when you are in a relationship such as:

Be Who You Are

Learn to pay attention to who you are and if you are being authentic. Stop pretending to be someone else. If you want to connect with someone, you have to be normal and be yourself around people you meet. Doing this can allow you to make deep connections with people.

When you allow yourself to be vulnerable, you can let people get to know you and this brings you joy and comfort.

Take Risks in Life

Another thing that you can do is to be risky. Taking risks is not safe and it is not always comfortable, but it is the best thing that you can do to help heal your emotions.

Talk to people around you and tell them about who you are. Let them know about your strengths and your weaknesses. Doing this can help you to open up and help you not to feel lonely.

You will see that when you are more open, you can make deeper connections. People are able to connect deeply with pets because when they act themselves such as farting in front of them, they know that their pet will love them no matter what. We also need this kind of love in our relationships.

Look at Yourself

Take time to figure out why you are feeling lonely. Be honest with yourself and know what is causing you to have these feelings.

If you feel bored, you have to figure out how to have more fun and stop blaming everyone around you for what happens in your life.

Learn to meditate and be mindful of what you are thinking. Go for a walk-in nature and go out and do some gardening.

Stop Assuming

Even though you might be good at reading people, it doesn’t mean that they are good at reading you. Sometimes we just assume that people know what we are going through, what hurts us, what makes us happy and so on and so forth.

You have to learn that people do not always know what you want and what you think. You have to tell people and be open about what your needs are. This can help you to stop feeling so lonely.

Talk About It

You have to learn to talk about what you need. If you want to do things or if you have things to say, speak up. Talking about your feelings and what you are thinking can help you to feel valued when you are in a relationship.

Learn to communicate with people and they will respect you. You never have to always agree with someone to be able to have your own opinion.

Listen Closely

As important as talking is, listening is equally important. When you want to be in a healthy relationship, you have to speak up, but you also have to listen. Listen to what your partner is telling you and try to see things from their perspective.

Communicating does not make a couple happy but being successful in communication can open you up to a whole new level.

If you feel lonely in your relationship and you still love your partner, try to figure out how to really connect with them.
